I undertook an 18-month renovation that included a new kitchen, screening room, and guest suite. The master bathroom had to be reconfigured, as it was previously a movie star-sized closet with a fur closet and vault – features we didn’t need. We transformed the space into a new master ensuite with a dressing room.
The mid-century Palm Springs home, built in 1962 by architect James McNaughton (a former Hollywood set decorator turned designer for the stars), was originally designed for a Hollywood producer. It later housed famous residents like Roger Moore and Hugh Hefner, who used it as the “Playboy in the Desert” house in the 1970s.
This house is a stunning example of mid-century meets Hollywood Regency architecture. The colonnade flows seamlessly between indoors and outdoors, creating a magical atmosphere that blurs the lines between the two. The renovation had to follow strict guidelines, as the home is now a listed historical cultural monument, requiring careful restoration rather than a full remodel.
